The University of Delaware’s Division of Professional and Continuing Studies (UD PCS) was recently recognized for its marketing and communications efforts by receiving six awards from the Delaware Press Association in its annual DPA Communications Contest.

Communications specialists Adam S. Kamras and Nora Zelluk earned two honors apiece for their Specialty Articles. Kamras placed first in the Hobby, Crafts, Building, Designing, Construction category for his article about the Professional Drone Pilot Training Academy, UD PCS drone program helps a business, and honorable mention in the Science or Technology category for a piece on the Social Media Marketing Training program, UD PCS students assist local nonprofits with social media.

Feedback from the judges on Kamras’ drone article included the following: “This is soooooooo smart. The drone, yes – but also the article. Here’s information that a lot of homeowners welcomed, I’m sure – and a lot of the business competitors. Concise piece of work with some particularly good points. … I bet the class enrollment soared soon after this article was published.”

For Kamras’ social media article, the judges called it “great work on describing the courses and showcasing the opportunity to the community.”

Both of Zelluk’s awards were in the Physical Health category. She placed third for Online course prepares healthcare professionals to become sleep health educators and honorable mention for Nursing home regulations course aimed at administrators, elder advocates.

For Zelluk’s article on the sleep health educator course, the judges said, “The piece is straightforward and clear. It includes succinct descriptions and relevant information for the reader.”

In their comments on Zelluk’s nursing home regulations article, the judges noted that “the lede is interesting and relevant,” and “the graphic is very good.”

Two UD PCS publications, the Spring 2019 University of Delaware Professional and Continuing Studies Educational Opportunities for Adults Guide, and the 2018 University of Delaware Professional and Continuing Studies Impact Report, also earned awards.

Competing in the Catalogs, Manuals and Handbooks category, feedback on the guide called it “a great guide.” The impact report was part of the Reports category and judged to be “very empowering.”
