The following timeline is estimated and shown here for planning purposes, and is subject to change.

Academic Program 2026

Now

• Students begin the application process by requesting two teacher letters of recommendation and completing the academic application.
• Schools collect student applications and recommendation letters.

Once Finalists Are Selected

• Schools will receive and distribute the registration link to selected Academic students.

Due January 16, 2026

• Principals or counselors submit the High School Registration Form (one per school), which includes both academic finalists and art nominees.

Due January 30, 2026

• All Academic finalists must complete their individual registration using the link provided by their school.

March 2026

• Welcome packets will be sent to the Academic students.

July 12-17, 2026

• Governor’s School for Excellence

Visual and Performing Arts Program 2026

Now

• Art students submit a resume to their school.
• Once nominees are selected, schools provide students with the Arts Registration Link (for visual art, music, and dance students).

Due January 16, 2026

• Principals or counselors submit the High School Registration Form (one per school), which includes both art nominees and academic finalists.

Due January 30, 2026

• All Art nominees must register for auditions using the link provided by their school.

Due April 3, 2026

• Visual Arts portfolios and resumes must be submitted via email to the University of Delaware program manager. Schools will provide the email address.

March–April 2026

• Auditions held for Instrumental Music, Choral, and Dance nominees.

May 2026

• Accepted students for all Arts programs will be notified via email.

July 12-17, 2026

• Governor’s School for Excellence
